Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshops
The Angling Trust currently endorses the Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshops delivered by UKcoaching and would recommend that anybody supporting children in angling attend a workshop.
Those attending the training will be able to:
- identify and recognise good practice and the implications for coaching
- explore your values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognise their potential impact on your response
- recognise and respond to possible signs of child abuse
- take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise.
To find a workshop near you why not have a look at the UKCoaching website or search your local County Sports Partnership website.
If you have had a look at the above and still can’t find anything then get in touch with your regional officer who may be able to help.
It is recommended that those working with children in angling refresh their training every 3 years and it is now a mandatory requirement for all coaches Licensed by the AT to do so. For those who have already attended a face to face workshop, you can now update your training with UKcoaching by undertaking the new UKcoaching: Safeguarding and Protecting Children elearning workshop.

The course only costs £16 and takes approximately 1 1/2 hours.
